Lucky Cement receives awards for its philanthropic contributions
27th January, Karachi Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP) has recognized Lucky Cement’s philanthropic contribution for social development in Pakistan by ranking it among top 10 out of 532 public listed companies in terms of total volume of donations in year 2010. This ranking was given subsequent to a survey investigating the philanthropic giving of Public Listed Companies. The survey aimed at recognizing the efforts of the corporate sector towards Corporate Social Responsibility.
Lucky Cement has also been ranked among top 25 out of 532 public listed companies in terms of corporate giving as percentage of Profit before Tax of 2010. Mr. Yaseen Anwar, Governor, State Bank of Pakistan was the chief guest of the Award ceremony. The year 2010 was Pakistan’s Corporate Sector’s most philanthropically active year to date. Lucky Cement donated around 104 million rupees to different charitable causes in the society, which is 3% of its profits before tax, says the survey report.
Lucky Cement wins numerous awards yearly for its CSR efforts. The PCPs Corporate Philanthropy Award was amongst a few others that Lucky Cement received for its efforts in 2010, which included awards for environment and the social sector. Lucky Cement Limited is Pakistan’s largest producer and leading exporter of quality cement with the production capacity of 7.75 million tons per annum.
